Tourist sights

Be surprised by the outstanding quality of our landmarks. Because in Dendermonde, we have great respect for our historic buildings and heritage sites!

Since the late 1990s, both the Belfry of the Town Hall and the Saint Alexius Beguinage have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. And in 2024, our Church of Our Lady was awarded two stars in the Michelin travel guide — meaning it is considered “worth a detour”!

But it’s not just our cultural-historical city center that’s worth visiting. In the surrounding villages, you’ll also find some hidden gems, such as the Church of Saint Aldegonde in Mespelare and the Church of Saint Gertrude in Vlassenbroek, a hamlet near Baasrode.
