On the beautiful Grote Markt, the equally beautiful City Hall is the star attraction. The City Hall is a gem of Flemish medieval architecture. Especially during the summer months, the City Hall looks stunning, adorned with eleven heraldic flags and decorated with colorful flowers.
Inside the City Hall, you can explore the beautiful interior and the numerous paintings from the Dendermonde School of Painting. The Belfry, which has been protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, has housed a carillon since the 16th century.
A visit to the City Hall and the Cloth Hall is completely free! Or climb the 109 steps of the Belfry and be rewarded with a breathtaking view over Dendermonde. A ticket to the Belfry costs only €2.
