The Ros Beiaard Harmony is made up of amateur musicians from Dendermonde. It was formed for the 1975 Ros Beiaard procession. During the 1990 procession, a second temporary harmony was created. From then on, it was decided to maintain the harmony between the Ros Beiaard processions as well. The red-and-white-costumed harmony has gradually become one of the main attractions in both the annual Katuit and the decennial Ros Beiaard procession.
Thanks to its large ensemble and splendid costumes, the harmony always leaves an overwhelming impression. Their music takes the apotheosis of the processions to an absolute climax. During a Ros Beiaard procession, they play the Ros Beiaard melody continuously.
François De Ridder, soloist with the Musikkapelle der Gidsen and teacher at several music academies, directed the ensemble until 2001. Since then, Patrick Heirbaut, captain-conductor of the Royal Fire Brigade Music Corps, has taken over the baton.
