Throughout the entire procession, the fiddler plays the Ros Beiaard melody continuously on his violin. As a guide, he emphasizes the rhythm of the pijnders carrying the Ros Beiaard. According to tradition, the fiddler always positions himself to the left of the Ros.
From 1952 to 1990, Alfons Goethals held this role four times in a row. Iwert Goossens made his debut as a young fiddler in the 2000 procession. He also performed this role in 2010 and 2022.
