Goliath

Goliath is the oldest of the three Dendermonde Guild giants, dating from 1626. The figure refers to the warlike giant from the biblical tribe of the Philistines, who was confronted by David. His head is made of painted wood and measures 50 cm. A dragon head and a grooved handle adorn his curved sword. A striking hat in the shape of a Phrygian cap serves as his headgear.

Goliath was the giant of the Saint George Crossbowmen’s Guild. He is 4 meters tall and weighs 98 kg.
