Dendermonde is not only known for its once-in-ten-years Ros Beiaard procession. Every last Thursday of August, the three guild giants — Indian, Mars, and Goliath — dance through the city center as the main characters in their own procession, Katuit. In 2005, the giants and Katuit were inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
